The Kansas County Commissioners Association has contracted with StrategyConsultants as their new 2022 legislative lobbyist. The KCCA, a non-profit membership organization, serves Kansas County Commissioner members who represent the nearly three million citizens residing in Kansas.

Strategy Consultants is a government relations and community affairs firm owned by Mike Taylor (photo right). Taylor is retired as Public Relations Director for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City where he served as lobbyist for 19 years. He was staff lobbyist for the City of Wichita from 1995-2003.

With the 2022 Kansas Legislative Session beginning on Monday, January 10, Taylor will monitor legislation introduced at the state level which may impact local county government and county residents. He will actively engage legislators on the issues they represent that may impact local county government.

“A mission of the KCCA is to promote and enhance local control. I’ve been a vocal defender of local control for 26 legislative sessions,” states Taylor.

“County Commissioners are locally elected officials who meet the challenges of serving their communities and meeting the needs of citizens every day. I am pleased to help them carry their message to the Statehouse and increase their role in promoting positive public policies.”

This is the first legislative session the KCCA has had its own lobbyist representing the organization. Taylor will work closely with the Kansas Association of Counties to further legislation which benefits county government and to defend against proposed laws which could be harmful. He is confident his new role will strengthen both the KCCA and the KAC at the Statehouse.
